Same input. Different response.
Hold right, let go, then reverse. All three ships receive your input and share the same top speed. Their acceleration and braking change how they move.

Focus the tracks and hold ← / → or A / D. On touch screens, hold the buttons. Aim for the marker, release, and notice which ships keep moving.
Ready. You control all three ships.
What changed?
The marker spans positions 520–600. At a wall, position is clamped and velocity becomes zero; the ships do not bounce. Positive velocity means right, negative means left.
Inspect one update
For each 1/60-second step, input selects a target velocity: left = −top speed, released = 0, right = +top speed. Velocity approaches that target by acceleration × time while a direction is held, or braking × time after release. Position then increases by velocity × time.
Acceleration and braking are measured in units/s². This is a chosen control model, not a complete physics simulation. The three presets change several settings to make the contrast clear; compare the numerical rules before attributing a difference to just one.
