Overview

Style over convention. Smilebit formed from Sega's internal reorganisation and immediately established an identity through visual boldness. Jet Set Radio pioneered cel-shading. Panzer Dragoon Orta continued Team Andromeda's legacy. Gun Valkyrie attempted third-person action innovation. Their four-year existence produced more memorable aesthetics than many studios manage in decades.
