Overview

PlayStation emulation evolved through several projects. The original PCSX emerged in 2000, with PCSX-Reloaded later providing improved PS1 emulation. PCSX2 tackled the far more complex PlayStation 2, eventually achieving broad compatibility despite the console's unusual architecture. These emulators preserved PlayStation libraries as original hardware aged.
