Meet BASIC: from a greeting to your first story

A Spectrum displays a story about meeting a sleepy dragon in a moon cave.

The first four Meet BASIC lessons are ready. Begin with one instruction, grow a greeting into a stored program, ask for words and arrange the answers into a small story.

Each stage includes a complete listing and tells you which lines to add, replace or remove. Saving comes early, so you can keep your work while you experiment. No previous programming experience or completed Foundations course is required.

The instructions use Emu198x v0.22.0, with host-character keyboard entry and desktop export of BASIC tape recordings. The sample checkpoints have been checked through the 48K Spectrum ROM, including saving and loading in a fresh emulator process.

This is a complete first project within a growing module. Revised Lucky Number, Oracle Stone and movement sections will follow. The earlier BASIC reference lessons remain available, and existing links to those lessons still reach their topics.
