Compupress
The Athens publisher behind Greece's computer press
Compupress published Computer για Όλους, then spun Pixel out of it in October 1983 on the strength of a reader questionnaire, and added PC Master in 1989. Both surviving titles in this library are its, under the same publisher, Nikos Manousos, across at least six years.
Compupress was a Greek magazine publisher in Athens. Both Greek titles in this project’s reference library are its, and they are not small: together they account for 21,480 pages, more than the library holds from France, Hungary, Spain and Russia combined.
What it published
Computer για Όλους (Computer for Everyone) came first. This library does not hold it, but Pixel documents it: Pixel was spun out of it in October 1983 because a questionnaire in its fifth issue found readers wanted more type-in listings.
Pixel ran to June 1996 — 133 issues. PC Master followed in September 1989 and ran to December 1993, 46 issues, with a cover disk from the first issue.
The same name signs both. Νίκος Μανούσος (Nikos Manousos) is ΕΚΔΟΤΗΣ (publisher) on Pixel’s masthead in 1984 and ΕΚΔΟΤΗΣ-ΔΙΕΥΘΥΝΤΗΣ (publisher-director) on PC Master’s in 1989. Βαγγέλης Παπαλιός appears on both too, in advertising and public relations on the first and as deputy director on the second.
⚠ Almost everything else about the company is outside what this library can show. It holds the magazines, not the business: no incorporation record, no circulation figures, no account of how many titles Compupress ran at once, and nothing at all about Computer για Όλους beyond what Pixel says of its parent.
