Atari ST User
The middle title in Database's platform sequence
Database Publications' Atari ST monthly ran from March 1986 to October 1994 — the second of three machine-specific titles the Europress group launched, after The Micro User and before Amiga Computing.
Atari ST User ran from March 1986 to October 1994, published by Database Publications Ltd — part of Europress — from Europa House, Hazel Grove, Stockport.
One title per machine
Set beside its stablemates, it completes a pattern that is invisible from any single entry:
| Title | From | Machine |
|---|---|---|
| The Micro User | 1983 | BBC Micro |
| Atari ST User | 1986 | Atari ST |
| Amiga Computing | 1988 | Amiga |
Database launched one magazine per platform as each became worth covering, roughly every two to three years, from a single building in Cheshire. That is a different strategy from Future’s — which split ST/Amiga Format into two titles and then added Amiga Shopper as a third for the same machine — and different again from EMAP’s, which renamed Commodore User into CU Amiga and carried the readership across.
Three houses, three answers to the same question about what to do when the machines change.
⚠ The address moved. This colophon gives Europa House at Hazel Grove, Stockport; Amiga Computing’s gives Europa House at Adlington Park, Macclesfield. The building name travelled with the company.
