Your Spectrum
What Your Sinclair was before it was Your Sinclair
Sportscene Specialist Press's Spectrum monthly ran 21 issues from January 1984 to December 1985, and stopped because it became Your Sinclair the following month.
Your Spectrum ran for 21 issues, January 1984 to December 1985, published by Sportscene Specialist Press Ltd of 14 Rathbone Place, London W1P 1DE.
It did not close. Your Sinclair issue 1 is dated January 1986 — the month after Your Spectrum’s last — from the same house, with the numbering restarted.
Why it has its own entry
Because the join is invisible from either side if you only read one of them. Your Sinclair’s issue numbers begin at 1 in 1986, which reads as a launch; Your Spectrum stops at 21, which reads as a closure. Together they are one magazine running from January 1984, and the two years before the rename are held here in full.
This is the third such case in this Vault, alongside Amiga Format out of ST/Amiga Format and CU Amiga out of Commodore User. A founded date on a British magazine is about as likely to mark a relaunch as a beginning, and a reset issue number is what hides it.
