The Gathering
Norway's Easter institution
Held every Easter in Norway since 1992, The Gathering grew into one of the world's largest computer parties, mixing demoscene competitions with a vast LAN.
Overview
The Gathering — “TG” to everyone who attends — has run every Easter in Norway since 1992, and grew into one of the largest events of its kind on earth. Like its Finnish counterpart Assembly, it spans two worlds at once: a demoscene party with serious competitions, and a colossal LAN where thousands of machines fill an arena for days.
For the Nordic scene in particular, TG became a fixed point in the calendar — the place where the year’s productions were premiered, judged, and argued over.
Fast facts

Notable moments
TG’s competitions have launched countless productions and careers, and its sheer scale helped carry the demoscene’s traditions into the networked, PC-dominated era without losing the compo format that defined them.
